Lake and savanna safari

Maasai Mara is probably Kenya’s number one tourist destination it holds spectacular scenery as well as vast amounts of bird and wildlife. The Reserve is famous for it’s huge herds of Wildebeest and Zebra which migrate through Maasai Mara from the Serengeti around June-October each year. However aside from abundant birdlife the Maasai Mara is a Big 5 National Reserve meaning it has Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Black Rhino which permanently reside here. Lake Nakuru is a shallow soda lake has been famous for its flamingos but has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here. You may get out of the vehicle at the lake shore to get a closer look at the birds. The nearby cliffs offer sightings of baboons, birds of prey and scurrying hyraxes, as well as great views of the park. The national park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard as well as white and black rhinos which were introduced to the park some years ago.

Day 1
Nairobi/Maasai Mara
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to Maasai Mara arriving at the camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the camp. Approx Transit time: 5½ hrs. Meal plan: {L, D}.

Day 2
Maasai Mara
Spend the day in Maasai Mara, Kenya's most popular game sanctuary, where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five - lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend the entire day in the park, or you can choose to have an early morning game drive, then lunch. Afternoon game drives or an option of a Maasai walking tour with a local Maasai guide to Mara Hill, followed by a visit to the Maasai homestead for a cultural experience, photo taking, and traditional dances. Return to the camp on an escorted walk. Evening bonfire and storytelling. All meals and overnight at the camp. Meal plan: {B, L, D}.

Day 3
Lake Nakuru
Depart Maasai Mara in the morning and proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park with hot or picnic lunch en route. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in the park. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approximately 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon, and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya guest house inside Lake Nakuru Park. Approx Transit time: 6 hrs. Meal plan: {B, L, D}.

Day 4
Nairobi
Another morning game drive in Nakuru. Depart after an early lunch and return to Nairobi arriving approx. 15:00 hrs. End of our services. Approx Transit time: 2½ hrs. Meal plan: {B}.
